Frequently Asked Questions

Is the BizX program designed for students who plan to start a business?

No. The program focuses on "Entrepreneurial Thinking" and not on how to start a business. The primary goal of the program is developing talent in students. The program is designed to develop the skills to think critically, reflectively and ethically. These skills are important to solve problems and make decisions creatively and efficiently, and most importantly to have the ability to communicate ideas effectively. These skills are just as useful in leading a large or mid sized organization as in a start-up or small company. However, the program will focus on learning about companies and businesses focusing on new types of products/services, high growth markets, and innovative business models.

If I enter the BizX program, can I still specialize in any business area of my choice?

Yes - Absolutely! You can specialize in any of the areas offered by the College of Business Administration (CBA). In addition, you have the option to obtain a minor in our very popular Entrepreneurship program. Once again, this program does not imply that you are being prepared to start a business. We are looking to develop talent, leadership and entrepreneurial thinking.

Will I be required to take all my courses with the students in the BizX program?

No. You will only take select business courses together as a cohort. This will allow our faculty to deliver an integrated view of business and prepare you to think like a business person. The feedback we receive from companies that come to BGSU to recruit indicates that knowledge of all areas of a business is extremely valuable.
